How We Serve

Getting Involved

At St. George’s on-the-Hill there are many opportunities for you to serve.

“Hands joined together in prayer, outreach, compassion, and justice.”

Gardening Guild

Spring through Autumn

The gardens of St. George’s are one of the ways we take care of the earth God gave us, while beautifying our church and our community. All are welcome to participate from Spring through Autumn.

The Etobicoke Learning Cooperative

Sundays – 12:30 pm-2:30pm

The Etobicoke Learning Cooperative is a project of St. George’s, and offers free academic assistance in Math, Science, English, French, Social Sciences, Essay Writing, Project Preparation, Study and Organizational Skills to students from grades 4-12.

This program is offered by local tutors from within our parish who volunteer their time to support students in the community. The ELC is a cooperative, so we welcome volunteer parents, professionals, university/high school graduates, and students interested in volunteering as tutors, or to assist with the program.

Prayer Shawl

1st Tuesday of the month 9:30am – 11:30am
3rd Tuesday of the month 7:30pm – 9:30pm

Shawls have been made throughout the centuries; they wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, hold in a hug, shelter, and beautify. The Prayer Shawls made at St. George’s are skillfully created as part of our outreach program. They are created to be given to those in any kind of need of comfort in times of illness, bereavement, or in celebration, such as a baptism or marriage. We believe our hands are God’s Hands. Through the Prayer Shawl ministry, we learn to trust the truth that God works through us when we care for friends and strangers alike.
