With Dr. Jennifer Bazar
Join us for a fascinating look at The Mimico Asylum / Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital which offered institutional mental health services for 89-years along the Etobicoke shoreline of Lake Ontario. In this virtual talk, Dr. Jennifer Bazar will introduce why the institution opened, the events that led to its closure, and what remains of the facility today.
Jennifer Bazar is the Curator of the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre. She completed her doctoral degree in the History and Theory of Psychology program at York University where she specialized in the history of mental health institutions. She is particularly committed to de-stigmatizing mental health care by contributing to open discussions about the history of institutionalization.
This event will be delivered via Zoom.
