St. George’s History: from an exhibit of racist beliefs to a modern outlet of diversity

Join us this Sunday for a talk with Abbie Fitzsimmons as she delves into the history of St. George’s with a focus on changing views of racism and inclusion.

After analyzing the archives from St. George’s rich history, this presentation explores the important role that history has in appreciating the transformation the church has taken towards becoming the inclusive and equal community it is today. It outlines research on Indigenous relations and racialized pasts that attribute to current diversity initiatives within the church.

Abbie Fitzsimmons is currently completing her last semester as an undergrad in the Arts and Business program at the University of Waterloo. Her research interests include political theory, legal application, Indigenous governance as well as marginalized groups in international relations. This September, she will be attending Queen’s university to further her education with a Master’s in political theory and legal thought. She has loved this opportunity to explore the church and is extremely grateful for the experience and insight she has gained.

This event will be delivered via Zoom.
