IN-PERSON
The Hike for Hospice is this Sunday! There’s still time to donate or sign up for the team and join us as we “hike” around Humbertown Park. Our team is St. George’s Dragons and our team goal is $5000! Go to our team page to register or donate.
How can you be a part of this? There are a number of ways.
Some 35 years ago, a parishioner from St. George’s on-the-Hill died in hospital from cancer. Afterwards, the friends and family who had shared in her journey started a search for a more compassionate and dignified way for someone facing a life-limiting illness to spend their final days. The Dorothy Ley Hospice is the result of that search.
Ever since, the Hospice has been an integral part of St. George’s community outreach, with the parish providing not only financial support, but volunteers for the community program, the board and various fundraising events; a location for the day respite program before the residence was built; and, active participation in the capital campaign which resulted in the residence being opened in 2009.
