We Are One and We Are Called to Action - A Message from Fr. Michelle

A Message from Fr. Michelle to the Parish of St. George's on-the-Hill. On Corpus Christi, Fr. Michelle reflected on the Body of Jesus and called us to action to raise our voices and offer our support and unwavering solidarity to the lives of the oppressed.

"Black lives matter. Indigenous lives matter. Brown lives matter. LGBTQ2 lives matter. The marginalized, the homeless, the addicted and the oppressed - their lives matter. We are one as the body of Christ, we are connected to each other, not separate."

"We live in a world with systemic racism. And it can be hard to recognize the Body of Christ when it is on the ground, in a black body, under the knee of the law. If we take our faith seriously, we need not only to open our eyes, but to use our minds, our voices, our hands and our feet, united as one, to make a stand."

Please watch this video for the full message, the full written text is available from the links below.

A Few Last Thoughts
We know that the past few weeks have been difficult ones for many and we'd invite you to reach out if you would like to talk or are looking for support.

We also know the things that our kids are seeing in the world around us right now are difficult to explain. We are working on processing this information with our Children and Youth and would invite you to connect with James Noronha at youth@stgeorgesonthehill.ca if you need further support.
As a starting point for children we have included a link below to the Sesame Street / CNN Townhall on Racism which is directed at younger children is informative, touching and is something we'd encourage all ages to watch, listen and consider.
